“Lived Expertise” —-by Brendan Heidenreich with M. Morris, Intuitive Copy, & Intuitive Intensive (10 Dec 2021) https://t.me/IntuitiveCopy, https://t.me/IntuitiveIntensive, https://t.me/IntuitivePublicRadio
Even when some people understand the problems we've encountered and acknowledge victimizing experiences in the world, Survivors Of Severity are often not taken seriously as having expertise at understanding and addressing complex situations.
These survivors have, after all, been engaging in professional work as yet undefined formally by existing professional structures.
Cited research into expertise may illustrate our meaning:
The following quote is from a case study of a self-taught math calculation 'prodigy' and similarly applies to many forms of expertise, including how survivors of the most invisible and violent intersections have developed exceptional ability to hold complex situations, stories, and 'disorienting dilemmas' in consciousness while holding the interests of many people in mind.
Through network collaboration we've developed these abilities even further… along with coming to understand how to flexibly and successfully respond to a wide range of situations that elsewhere would be expected to lead to freezing, escape responses, rationalization, and blame-shifting in 'most people.'
The bolded portions are our own highlights.
"...The kinds of calculation that Gamm is able to carry out accurately and quickly involve a sequence of steps and intermediate results well beyond the capacity of working memory. Like other calculating prodigies, Gamm has taught himself an enormous store of number facts. Most of us know our multiplication tables, and perhaps 50 simple additions, but Gamm has learned tables of squares, cubes and roots, among others.
Similarly, Gamm has an enormous store of procedures and short-cuts that allow him to solve multi-step problems very quickly and accurately. For example, to solve 68 × 76 takes seven steps and six intermediate results. After some practice with the task, Gamm was taking about five seconds per problem—with a high degree of accuracy. Two-digit squares, by contrast, took him just over a second because they were simply retrieved from memory.
Such a sequence of operations and data handling would put a considerable strain on normal working memory, yet many types of experts show increased capacities for the temporary storage of task-relevant materials. For example, musicians can recall tunes after a single hearing, and expert waiters can keep in mind the precise orders for up to 20 people without writing them down (at least until the customer has paid)."

Survivors know how to address a lot of problems that many people have learned to interpret as 'unrealistic' to do anything about, whether viewed as individual, group-level, or society-wide problems — and whether addressed by individual experts or larger collaboration.
We see how important it is for people to take this seriously.
If belief or believability seems to be at issue… help sort through what the truth is.
If we're right, a lot of lives can immediately be saved and transformed.
If someone receiving our signals may think we're wrong… we request at least to be given a chance to make our clear, substantive case and not be brushed off.
Our survivor-collaborators are in dire situations due to the bad actions of many people. To believe nothing can be done is also believing that these survivors' lives, safety, and freedom don't matter.
This is the impact, even if not the intent.
We are changing it; we recognize and demonstrate daily that it can and does change when attended to with kindness and courage.
This rally for engagement -- please, invite your friends and colleagues -- prevents catastrophe and ensures safe, inclusive communities.
